Recent events have caused me to reflect over recent choices and decisions that both I and other people have made.On our BreakingSurface forum we are very lucky to have a wide range of both talent and personalities.This ensures that its very rarely dull.We very often (the staff) thank the members and each other for the timeless effort that is put in and all at no charge.We all work merely for the love of our sport
However prior to the forum being created in September of 2007 (the website you're now viewing was created some time later in February 2008).Before all this came about there was a lot of work went into getting early clips and photos from all around the region in readiness to be used on BreakingSurface.And its during this time that some people were vital to the success of what has come to be.
Below are the first 2 clips ever recorded.The first was taken in August 07 on Church Gardens and the 2nd video was my first ever trip to Bradshaw Hall Fisheries in early Sept 07.Who knew what the following 2 years would bring that day!
As you can see film quality has slightly improved since back then.Filming those two clips was a woman who filmed hours and hours of early footage and took literally hundreds of photos that were later used on the site.All this well before we officially opened.Having never received any credit for this I today thank Lorraine Michaels and wish you well in wherever life has taken you.

The mans voice in the background is Dennis Deakin,the grandfather to my two children and username 'Poleman' on the forum.I cant begin to explain the many,many hours Ive enjoyed fishing with this man.Even back when I was a teenager on the dole,he would be there buying me a permit and running me here,there and everywhere.Once again he was vital to the early success of BreakingSurface and without him I have no doubt we would not be where we are today.
And then of course there is Femme Fatale,my sister Lynda Powell.She was the one who invested the first £7 to buy the domain of www.breakingthesurface.co.uk.Having a trauma because we couldnt get the site to take her credit card details.And then finally when we got it working we didnt have a clue what to do with it!Some months passed and with the help of my cousin Craig Zayne the website slowly started to take shape.
Due to recent events my future part in BreakingSurface has become a little unsure.Certainly over the coming weeks and months I will be taking time out due to a recent problem with Bradshaw Hall Fisheries which has taken some wind out of my sails to say the least and left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth.
But even though it has taken just over two and a half years to say it I genuinely bow my head and say thanks to all the people above and of course the hundreds of people who now pass through the forum everyday
